We’ve been talking about walking in the presence of God and that if we want more of the presence of God we have to want His will… Jesus must reign. But the legitimate question is raised… What is His will?
The answer is those 2 simple words we spoke of in our last meditation:
“Follow Me.” (Mk 1:17, 2:14)
He didn’t say, “Follow your instincts” or “Follow your best intentions”. Even if it would do us any good, He knew we could never do that with any consistency. The problem we have as humans is that even when we have some idea of what is good and right we can’t do it consistently, let alone with a pure motivation.
We are addicted to sin; worse, we are addicted to sinfulness. Who is going to save us from THAT?
Not good intentions or sincerity
Not good leaders
Not even good peers
Only Jesus.
Let me tell you something, if God’s presence is in your life and mine, sinning will be more painful, more difficult, more quickly repented of. We will not be able to function outside of His presence.
